Karsyn's Program

Karsyn had her school program last night! She did a great job - especially after being sick and running a fever for 5 days! She's next to the girl in the pink shirt on the front row and our cousin Chase is on the far right on the top row.

Landrie's Kindergarten Program

Landrie's Kindergarten program was held on the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day so they sang songs about the Earth and the environment. She was not as animated as the other kids, but was definitely more outgoing than she usually is when performing. When she's at home and no one is "watching" her, she is VERY loud and fun to listen to.

There wasn't any nose picking or hiding behind other kids, so I'll call it a success! She knew I was filming so she would turn and look at the camera a lot!

This is a highlight video of her performance. The real deal is 10 minutes long and I wouldn't want to bore you. :) Sorry for the Blair Witch-like recording. I'm not good at taking video at all!

Construction Project

Inspired by my cousins who were inspired by this lady - we are building an entertainment center. It's coming along nicely and hopefully we'll finish it this week.

Here's the first three pieces:

I've spent the last 2 days painting it black and then I will distress it a little bit. I've really enjoyed building and learning something new. AND - Lamar and I haven't killed each other either. :) I'll update later this week as I get pieces finished.

Easter

We had Easter/Karsyn's Birthday Party at Meme's on Sunday afternoon. It was a really nice day - a little hot even - but the kids all had fun! Landrie filled her bucket up, but Karsyn was done after about 10 eggs.

Happy "Balentimes" Day

With an unexpected 3 day weekend, Valentine's has been extra fun and special. Lamar and I started dating on February 13, 1999, so we celebrated 11 years together yesterday. Lamar found a DVD of the movie we saw together that night 11 years ago - She's All That - what a fun treat!

This morning we made heart-shaped pancakes and have just lounged around...a great Sunday!

Hope your Balentimes Day (as Karsyn says) is extra special!

Snow Day

Crazy Texas Weather---AGAIN! Today we are nearing a record 7+ inches of snow! We had school today, but tomorrow we're off. The girls played outside for over an hour today and were loving every minute of it. If I had let them, they would still be outside now.

Where oh where did my little blog go?

I've disappeared from the blogging world and I'm not sure why. Things have been status quo lately, boring even, so I haven't had much to share. The girls are happy healthy and doing well, and we're enjoying having Lamar home more often. He's coaching 7th grade basketball right now and with no after-school practices, that gets him home around dinner time (or earlier) now!

Better Late to a Party than Not at All

Shanty 2 Chic

I love a good party and have made quite a few things without my hubby. I am the handy one at home. Today, I'm going to show my clipboards that he definitely didn't help with. He'd probably rather I didn't do them at all since they do create a bit of a mess.

These started with my love and obsession with scrapbook paper and ribbon. I bought one from someone and decided I could do it too.

You need the following supplies:

  • clipboard with U-shape clip (97 cents at Wal-mart)
  • Ink/chalk/craft paint for the edges of the clipboard
  • 12 x 12 scrapbook paper (2-3 different sheets per board)
  • coordinating ribbons (3 or more different colors, textures and sizes looks best)
  • Mod Podge - I use the Mod Podge as a glue and as a sealer.
  • Cricut (if personalizing)

These make great teacher gifts!!

Happy New Year

It's hard to believe that it's 2010!

When I look back on the last 12 months, I can say that we had a good year. It started out hard with lots of uncertainty on the job front for Lamar, but God had a wonderful plan in store that included us finishing the year with a State Championship! It really was the perfect ending.

I didn't even think about it being the end of a decade, but Lamar and I have spent the entire decade together! Our first of many!

I know this year will be full of even more blessings for the Kirk Krew and I hope the same for you!

We are the CHAMPIONS!

I'm so excited and so proud to say that WE WON!! It was a heart in your throat, gut-wrenching kind of game, but we came up on top. The 5 months of Lamar working 7 days a week and me feeling like a semi-single mom paid off. Daddy's biggest fans were so excited to greet him on the field!

Way to go Trojans!!!

Trojans are headed to STATE!

My alma mater, Trinity, is headed to State this weekend! This in itself is exciting, but is even more exciting considering that Lamar is part of the coaching staff!!! It's so exciting to be part of a winning team after the last 2 years.

Good luck Coach Kirk and Go Trojans!!!

ICE

**These pictures are out of order...silly Blogger!

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we went to the ICE show at The Gaylord. It was a great way to kick off the holiday season.

At the end of the Grinch show, there was a huge nativity made entirely out of ice. Pictures don't do it justice.
The girls meeting Mrs. Claus. She took pictures for free...Santa's pictures = $14.95!

Karsyn perfecting her Grinch smile! (See Jim Carey as the Grinch and you'll understand)

At the entrance - Landrie was shocked by how cold it was - 9 degrees!
