We are the CHAMPIONS!

I'm so excited and so proud to say that WE WON!! It was a heart in your throat, gut-wrenching kind of game, but we came up on top. The 5 months of Lamar working 7 days a week and me feeling like a semi-single mom paid off. Daddy's biggest fans were so excited to greet him on the field!

Way to go Trojans!!!

Trojans are headed to STATE!

My alma mater, Trinity, is headed to State this weekend! This in itself is exciting, but is even more exciting considering that Lamar is part of the coaching staff!!! It's so exciting to be part of a winning team after the last 2 years.

Good luck Coach Kirk and Go Trojans!!!

A Different Black Friday

The last several years I've done the Black Friday adventure...this year was a little different. We celebrated Black Friday by cheering on the Trojans!

The girls are such troopers at the games. Today we were there for 5 hours! They love to watch football and cheer for Daddy! Karsyn now loves to imitate the Haka and Landrie was watching for first downs so she could join the rest of the fans chanting "1-2-3 First Down!"

Next week, we're on to the Region Finals. I have to miss the game due to our annual Craft Fair, but I'm hopeful for another WIN - Go Trojans!!!

Daddy's Biggest Fans

Wednesday night marked the end of Lamar's junior high season. We watched the Stallions win against a big rival. After the game, the girls and Daddy cooperated for some cute pictures:

Picture Play

I was experimenting with my Kodak software. I thought these were sweet pictures of Karsyn and Lamar. She definitely has her moments between Daddy and Mommy. Sunday was definitely a Daddy Day.

7 Years

I started this post for our Anniversary yesterday, but we got a spur of the moment call to go to Six Flags with 3 other families. We postponed our celebration for that fun opportunity. Now - back to the anniversary post.

Today Lamar and I are celebrating our 7 year anniversary! I had a harebrained idea that it would be fun to get married 2 weeks after graduating from college and 3 days after Christmas. It was a crazy 2 weeks for sure, but I wouldn't change a thing.

In honor of our anniversary - here are 7 things from our 7 years together.
  1. Lamar always makes me laugh. Our relationship started on laughter. We've always enjoyed eachother's company and cracking up together. He has a very dry sense of humor and keeps us laughing often.
  2. We have lived in 5 different houses. I was also part of several moves while we were in college too!
  3. We were in the planning stages of a June wedding - dresses picked out, church reserved, flowers bought and changed it to 6 months earlier and scratched all of our plans.
  4. I didn't know that you had to get a marriage license in Texas 72 hours in advance. Because of Christmas, we didn't get ours until the 26th. Our legal wedding date is Dec. 29.
  5. We didn't go on a honeymoon until the following May. Being a coach's wife impacts so much. 3 days after our wedding, Lamar had to coach a basketball tournament, so we postponed a trip to the Caymans until May.
  6. I had originally thought I wanted to wait 5 years before we had kids. We were pregnant the January after our first anniversary. God had bigger plans and boy are we so thankful that we have Landrie and Karsyn.
  7. These 7 years have taught me so much about being less selfish (I'm still working on that), accepting change, compromise and a greater love than I could have imagined 10 years ago when we met.

Happy Anniversary Lamar! I am so thankful for the ride we've shared for the last 7 years. I can't wait to see where the next 7 will take us! I Love You!

Blogging live

from our new laptop! Thank you Gigi and Grandpa!!! Having this laptop will help Lamar with his masters and will be more reliable than our older computer. We are thrilled to have it!

Thanks for supporting us all the time - especially as Lamar goes back to school!

Celebrating Lamar

As our friends have turned 30 (and one turned 40!), they have thrown parties from the simple to elaborate. It can be overwhelming trying to keep up the tradition, but we definitely tried last weekend.

We invited a few friends to Downtown Fort Worth for dinner and then we went to Pete's Dueling Pianos. It was so much fun! It has a very lively atmosphere, entertaining music and tons of people watching (my favorite). We had a great night!!

For Lamar's birthday, the girls and I gave him Guitar Hero for his Playstation 2. It is SO much fun! It's become a family thing for us to do. The girls love to pretend to play and to watch us compete against each other.

I also gave Lamar one other gift... He told me a while back that if he could have any car it would be a Corvette. Obviously that isn't practical for our family, so I gave him a mini-Corvette to admire in the mean time.

Happy Father's Day!

Lamar is a wonderful father to my girls. When we were in college, Lamar worked at a day care. I remember visiting him one day and walking in to see 10 kids climbing all over him. He was laughing with them and playing along. I knew then he would be a great dad. He loves Landrie and Karsyn like there's no tomorrow! He is their protector and their playmate. They are lucky and blessed to have him as their Daddy! Happy Father's Day Lamar!

Pops and I have so many similar characteristics. He's passed on his love of books, school and music to me. Neither of us are morning people and we tend to procrastinate. He taught all us what a marriage should look like and what a father should be. Pops is also the greatest Pops to my girls too. They love playing with him and teasing on him (as Landrie would say). We LOVE you, Pops!

Grandpa (Lamar's Dad) is missing from my pictures. It seems he never stops long enough to pose for pictures. He has taught Lamar and his other 2 sons to work hard. He is always patient with the girls and loves to spoil them. This past week, he fixed up a swing set and a swimming pool for them. The girls loved it! They love to talk to Grandpa on the phone and to play games with him all the time. Happy Father's Day Grandpa!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is Lamar's 29th birthday! Wow ~ He's getting old. :)

This morning Landrie helped me cook a big breakfast with blueberry muffins, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs and OJ. She was a great help until Go Diego Go came on...he's such a distraction.

Landrie is in a wedding this weekend, so she is stealing Lamar's birthday a little bit. We have the rehearsal tonight and the wedding tomorrow night, so our real birthday celebration will be on Sunday!

Happy Birthday Daddy! We love you!!

Congrats Daddy!

Lamar received an email last week naming him the FW Flyers HEB Teacher of the Month! The FW Flyers is a NBA Developmental League basketball team. Lamar, Landrie and I get to go to the game tomorrow night and meet the coaches and players before the game. During one of the timeouts, he will be recognized for his award.

I'll be sure to post pictures after we get back!
