Easter Party

Today the girls had Easter Egg Hunts at school. I tried to take pictures of them before school, but only Landrie wanted to cooperate.

We're so excited to have a day off from school tomorrow and to spend time with all of our family. It will be a great weekend to celebrate all that God has blessed us with!

Bluebonnet Beauties

Only in Texas do you subject your children to taking pictures in a pile of weeds...

They sure look cute though!

Happy Birthday Karsyn!

I can't believe to be posting this, but Miss Karsyn is 3 years old! It seems like just yesterday that she was born, and our lives were forever changed.

She is constantly moving, usually very happy and sweet and extremely independent.

She goes back and forth between being Daddy's girl or Mommy's girl - though lately, it's Daddy hands down.

She loves school and has such an imagination.

She and Landrie are eachother's biggest fans!

We are so blessed by this Sweet Sweet Girl! I love you, Karsyn Alyssa! Happy Birthday!

Not my finest day

Today is going to go down as not my finest day as a mom. Last night, Karsyn got sick as we pulled in Matt & Missy's driveway. She immediately acted fine so we thought it was just an isolated thing. She even said she was hungry and ate a hot dog and some pasta salad. I'm sure you can see where this is going...

She got sick again over there and we quickly made our exit. Luckily we live right down the street, so I walked her home while Lamar helped clean up.

I went ahead and called in for the day, but was expecting her to contine to be fine. She ate breakfast fine, but was laying around a lot. I decided to press my luck (BIG, BIG mistake) and get my nails done. She watched a video on my phone and then as I was half way through, lost her breakfast all over my pants and herself. YUCK!

My nail person, grabbed towels and a trash bag and I cleaned her off and we kept right on going. She's asleep now and hopefully will be done with this yucky stuff soon. I'm praying that no one else gets it.

On a side note, Karsyn's 3rd birthday is Sunday. When you ask her how old she's going to be, she holds up 4 fingers and says twenty one! Silly girl! I got it on video and will try to post it later tonight.

UPDATE: Landrie just came home and looks like she's ready to blow. Round # 2 here we come!

Picture Play

I was experimenting with my Kodak software. I thought these were sweet pictures of Karsyn and Lamar. She definitely has her moments between Daddy and Mommy. Sunday was definitely a Daddy Day.

Soccer & Spring Pictures

Yesterday, Landrie played her first 2 soccer games. It was 40 degrees when we were out there and a ridiculous wind. I'm guessing it was less than 30 degrees with the wind chill.

Landrie's team has only had one practice, so they were not as prepared as the other 2 teams but still played their hardest. Most importantly though, Landrie had fun and is excited to play again next week.

Thankfully today was a beautiful "sunshiny day" as Karsyn likes to say since we had family pictures planned. Below are the pictures I took when we finished, but they are about the same quality as the photographer caught since Karsyn was not interested in cooperating. She was above all bribes offered and buried her face in my leg for several shots. We'll get the real pictures back later this week. I'm hoping there are a few we can use.

My Princesses

On Sunday, the girls, Lolly and I went to Elle's Princess & Pirate Tea Party. It was so much fun! The girls were greeted by Snow White and got to play will every princess toy imaginable. After Elle served them tea, Ariel came by the party to play games and entertain them. It was a great party!

Karsyn was "Trincess Barbie" as she says, and Landrie was Cinderella.

Landrie's First Soccer Practice

Last night, Landrie had her first soccer practice. We were supposed to start last week, but we had crazy cold rains for several days straight. The weather was perfect for her first day out.

Landrie exceeded my expectations last night. She listened so well to her coach and tried everything that was asked of her. I think she really enjoyed herself!

Restraining Karsyn on the sidelines was definitely a challenge, but she did good too. She joined in some of the games with the team and played photographer for a while.
Karsyn also had a PERFECT day on the potty! I'm so proud of her! We went to soccer practice and a restaurant for dinner and NOT one accident! She's doing GREAT!

Another GREAT day!

I'm shocked that I'm able to type this after Sunday not going well at all. Karsyn is well on her way to being officially potty trained!!! Yesterday, she had her only accident at 8:15 because Mommy didn't take her before our walk to see Campbell. When she woke up, her pull-up was dry and she's stayed dry all morning long. Wooooo hooooo! I'm just a tad bit REALLY excited!

I'm so proud of my littlest BIG girl!

I promise this won't become a PT blog, but I need to record this for the books. Our well-documented first attempts didn't go so well, so I'm pleased to report our progress this time.

Thanks for everyone's support and encouragement! As melodramatic as it sounds, I couldn't have made it through these last few days without it!

Karsyn's Big Day

**Monday Update: Karsyn has had an awesome day! No accidents and we've even braved 2 car rides. I'm so proud of her and she's VERY proud of herself!

Here's what we're up to today! (Click the link for a fun video)

We're out of diapers at the our house and we are on Spring Break! What a better time to potty train Miss Priss. On Friday night, the girls both got to pick out prizes for Karsyn's potty training adventure. Landrie is being such a good sister and helping Karsyn remember to go potty and keep her panties dry.

We've got candy and prizes waiting for success! The candy is for each time Karsyn goes successfully and her big prize if she keeps her panties dry for 2 days.

For being a good helper, Landrie picked out a Barbie as her reward. Karsyn chose Dora and Diego dolls. They are proudly displayed on the towel bar in their bathroom to remind Karsyn of her reward. Right now Dora and Diego are sad so they're facing the wall. When Karsyn keeps dry, they'll turn around and cheer for her!

Since we're house bound for a few days, I'm trying to keep Landrie and Karsyn entertained. We've painted toe nails and even did a mini-makeover for Landrie. Isn't she beautiful?!?

If things continue this way, we're going to have a long, boring week! If you have any ideas for us, please post them in the comments. I don't do boredom very well!

Hope you're week is a little more interesting than ours! I'm sure Karsyn will give me plenty of blog material so check back for more updates.

Cha-cha-changes!

It's an exciting time of year with birthdays (mine and Karsyn's), Spring Break coming up and Summer just 3 short months away. With the changing of the seasons, The Kirk Krew is undergoing some changes too...mainly Landrie.

Landrie starts soccer for the first time next week. She's very nervous about trying something new, but I'm sure she'll do great. The biggest challenge will be trying to keep Karsyn off the field. I think she's more interested than her big sister.

We also got an email from Landrie's Pre-K this week. They are going to be taking Graduation pictures next week! I can hardly believe that Landrie is about to go to Kindergarten! She's been at her preschool for the last 4 years, so it will very different for her to go to her new school. When we talk about it she goes through the typical questions, of who will be her friends, will she be the littlest there, etc. We just keep encouraging her and hopefully easing her fears. I know she'll do great!

The Reader

Landrie has expressed a lot of interest in reading lately, so Lolly found the same readers we used 20+ years ago on Amazon and ordered the first set for her. We're already on book 5, but she really likes to read book 1 to Karsyn since she knows it so well.

I love seeing her learn so much! She's just soaking up everything right now. Karsyn is learning in the process too and likes to pretend that she's reading.

Falling Behind...

I've fallen behind on the blog here. We haven't been extraordinarly busy or anything, but busy enough that several afternoons, I've found Landrie like this:

She doesn't take naps on a regular basis anymore, but every 2 or 3 days, she'll crash in the playroom. Karsyn won't let her sleep long, so it's usually the perfect cat nap to get her through till bed time.

Live your life...

Live your life so your children will know you stood for something wonderful.

A friend had this quote on her wall tonight and I immediately thought of Jimmy York. He and his wife Tricia are close friends of my parents. Jimmy died suddenly last night at 33 years young. Jimmy lived his life in a way that his 2 young sons will know what he stood for. He has left a legacy that we should all strive for. He will be greatly missed by his church, his friends and his family.

Please be in prayer for Tricia, Braxton, Auston and the rest of the York family.

Stop over to Pops' blog for a wonderful tribute to Jimmy's legacy.
